Why I Like Horror: Guest blog and Jenny Pox paperback giveaway on Literary Escapism

I have a guest post up on Literary Escapism today.  Since I wasn't on many blogs this month, I figured I'd end the month/start the holiday season with a paperback giveaway of Jenny Pox.  See the blog for details!

Hollowland by Amanda Hocking

HollowlandHollowland by Amanda Hocking

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I read Hollowland yesterday, and it was great, entertaining post-zombie-apocalypse adventure. 19-year-old Remy has to cross a great swath of western America in search of her little brother. Along the way, she joins up with a rock star, passes through a zombie-infested Las Vegas, and at one point they spend the night in a freaky religious compound. Remy notes that only religious fundamentalist survivalist types were really prepared for the collapse of civilization.

I don't think the book ever strayed from Remy's viewpoint. She's a clever and courageous protagonist, tough and sarcastic without being callous towards other. She's mostly callous towards herself.

Hollowland was a fun, fast read. It was the first book I've read by Amanda Hocking, but I'll be back for more.

Jenny at Supernatural Snark writes a beautiful review of Jenny Pox

This is one of those reviews you love to get, where the reader clearly felt a deep connection to the characters and story.  Sales are nice, but reviews like this do a lot to keep you going as a writer.  Supernatural Snark is also going to be a stop on the Haunted E-Book tour in January!

Jenny Pox Reviewed on Hellnotes!

Hellnotes is a major horror blog, and I was nervous when I saw this review pop up in my Google Alert. But then I saw the review was from my pal Darkeva and all was well!

I also had a guest post on Caffeinated Diva the other day, but totally forgot to post it--it's not too late to comment there!
