You know what doesn't suck? Being on leave from work.

Yeah, I haven't been to work in 3 weeks and don't go back until the end of July.  It's fairly awesome.  I think I don't want to go back.  It's beautiful to wake up whenever, hang out with the baby, do stuff around the house, work on the new book.  And that's it.  I've only put gas in my car once since I went on leave.  It turns out you can get so much done that you actually care about, and without much stress, when you don't have a day job and a commute sucking away all your time like some sort of time-sucking vampire who sucks away your time.

So, while I realized it was awful to lose so much time every day, I had no idea how really excellent life would be without that daily slog.  Take all the leave, vacation and PTO you can from work. That's my advice.

Baby pictures and Jenny Pox 3 update

It's been a couple of week since I updated. That's because I've been busy with caring for a newborn! My wife gave birth to John Lewis Bryan on June 2, 2011, at 1:22 AM, which is a nice quiet time to do that sort of thing. He's now two weeks old. Here are some baby pictures taken by my friend Jackie from Olive Green Photography.

Yep, that's him!  His hobbies include sleeping, eating, and listening to live audiobooks (read by me).

How will we pay for this baby?  So far, I'm about halfway through the third Jenny Pox book.  Jenny and Seth are definitely in for some wild adventures this time.  I'd say it makes the first two books look pretty tame.

Here's how you can help with the baby: 60-70% of each book I sell goes directly to providing for him.  This would be a great time to try Jenny Pox or any of my other books, conveniently available on your favorite e-reader platform (or Smashwords if you really want a good deal--you get all ebook formats, so that's handy if you decide to change e-readers in the future).

I'll try to keep updates more often now.  Let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks.
